Our chapter was organized on March 12, 1958. It serves all of Broward County. We have members from Pompano Beach, Margate, Coral Springs, Fort Lauderdale, Coconut Creek, Deerfield Beach, Boca Raton, Lighthouse Point, Tamarac and 'seasonal' members as well.

Our name was derived from the book Memoirs of Hernando d'Escalante Fontaneda, written in about 1575 and translated into English by Buckingham Smith in 1854. This is the first written description of Florida, its Indians, and the Everglades.

Our luncheon meetings are on Saturdays this year in order to accomodate as many members as possible. Our projects combine the goals of the National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution with social fun and individual growth.
